The World of Outlaws (WoO) NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will see a pair of unique divisions co-headlining events during their upcoming Western pilgrimage. At The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on February 27-28, the NASCAR K&N Series will share the spotlight for the first time ever with WoO. Meanwhile, the Elk Grove Ford Midgets will shine alongside the WoO contingent on March 23 at Placerville Speedway (Placerville, California).
The February 27-28 at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway finds the WoO NOS Energy Sprint Cars contesting a complete show each night during the FVP Platinum Batter Showdown. The NASCAR K&N Series will take part in practice sessions on Wednesday, February 27. The next night, another complete WoO program is scheduled along with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Star Nursery 100.
“We’re excited that our traditional two-day event in Las Vegas is continuing to grow with the addition of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West,” World of Outlaws COO Tom Deery said. “We’re also looking forward to showcasing this historically popular event with our style of high-horsepower, high-speed, winged Outlaw dirt racing to a whole new audience. We like making history with our World of Outlaws events and combining with NASCAR on the same night at the same track will certainly be a first that no one will want to miss.”
Placerville Speedway’s 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts takes place on March 23. The addition of the Elk Grove Ford Midgets to the program gives open wheel fans a double dip of entertainment. The Midgets will chase a $2,000 top prize.
“Combining the World of Outlaws and Midgets on the same night at Placerville is going to make for an unbelievable show,” said Brad Sweet, a Grass Valley native who drives the #49 NAPA AUTO PARTS Sprint Car for Kasey Kahne Racing. “When we were able to move the race to Saturday night we were afraid we weren’t going to be able to include Midgets as part of the program, but Matt Wood at Elk Grove Ford stepped up to help make it possible. It’s going to be a big night, for sure.”
