The 2018 season found Mother Nature being unkind to both national Dirt Late Model tours. Multiple rainouts dotted the landscape, and early in 2019 rain is once again wreaking havoc. An unfavorable forecast has forced the postponement of this weekend’s scheduled World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series events in Tennessee.
“All of us were geared up to resume the season this weekend, but Mother Nature is not going to cooperate,” World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series Director Casey Shuman said. “We made the decision to move the weekend to March 22 and 23 in the best interest of the fan and competitor experience. We can’t wait to fire back up with big car counts and big crowds.”
This same weekend was affected by Mother Nature in 2018 as well. Cold and wet weather forceda double header at Smoky Mountain Speedway to be postponed more than a month later than its originally scheduled date.
Similarly, Duck River Raceway Park has battled its own issues with weather issues in recent WoO events. While the track wasn’t part of the tour 2018 tour, in 2017 their series event had to be rescheduled due to rain.
When action resumes on March 22 – 23, the WoO contingent will be led into battle by 2017 Champion, Brandon Sheppard. The Illinois racer ended Speedweeks with a historic, four-race win streak in WoO competition at Volusia Speedway Park.
