In our travels through the interwebs on May 31st, we spotted a posting on TA Performance Products Inc. Facebook fan page that grabbed our attention. The keyword that caught our eye was “Buick Fans.” Almost everyone in dirt track racing would agree that those keywords and dirt oval racing don’t go together often these days.
With great pleasure and interest, we read on. The post explained that a Buick enthusiast, who was also a dirt track racer, was in a fan vote competition with other drivers for the opportunity to gain entrance into an invitation race. Donald McIntosh runs a late model with a “heavily-customized 521ci stage 2 aluminum Buick engine.
The invitational race is set up by a fan vote where the top four vote-getters will get to race in the series. TA Performance went on to proclaim; “We want to take a BUICK to Eldora and show ‘em what a Big-Block Buick can do!”
If we win, Donald McIntosh gets a shot at winning with his BUICK powered dirt car. Please, let’s give it our all and show how passionate our Buick community is and make a difference!
We followed the link to find out more details and hope to help Donald make the top four. Unfortunately, the voting ended on May 31 at midnight.
It appears that Tanner English, Freddie Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter, and Rick Eckert took the top four spots on the link that proclaimed the poll was closed.
Donald can take solace in the fact that he finished Eighth, with a respectable fan vote count, topping some incredible talent including Cade Dillard, Shanon Buckingham, and Casey Roberts.
Next year, we’ll be ahead of the game and help the Buick fans by getting the word out early.
