Seavey Wins Race And USAC National Midget Title At Bakersfield

Dirt track open wheel specialist Rico Abreu lead every lap of the feature except for the last quarter of the last lap. It only matters who crosses the finish line first and that was Logan Seavey on Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway.

In addition to Abreu, the field consisted of the best midget car and open wheel racers in the country. From Chad Boat, Justin Grant, and Tyler Courtney to regional favorites Damion Gardner, Jake Swanson, and Alex Schutte.

Racing was tough all night long but it boiled down to a pair of racers, Abreu and Seavey, the leader and the chaser. As is the case many times, the chaser gets a chance to see what the leader is doing, then tries to find a quicker way around the track. That’s the way it worked for Seavey on Saturday night.

The win wrapped up the USAC National Midget title for Seavey with two races left in the 2018 Season. On Thursday, November 22, the annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura will highlight this year’s midget racing schedule, followed by the Du Quoin, Illinois, finale on December 15.
