Quicksilver’s Street Stock Class Hits Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

Odd as it may sound, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway hosted dirt track racing on May 25, 2019 as the Quicksilver Street Stock Performance Series came to town. Nashville is a quarter-mile asphalt track that claims to be the oldest continually operating track in the United States.

According to the track’s published stats, the speedway is an 18-degree banked quarter-mile  paved oval that originally broke ground in 1904 as a 1 1/8-mile dirt oval. For the May 25 event, 181 truckloads of dirt were hauled in to the fairgrounds to cover the asphalt oval in 3-inches of dirt.

Two weeks of racing was held on the dirt surface, with the Quicksilver Street Stock Performance Series kicking off the inaugural event.

As we have covered previously, the Quicksilver crate engines announced their Street Stock racing series at last year’s PRI trade show in Indianapolis.

The series is open to all crate engines that fall into the displacement rules, but the Quicksilver 383 CT is by far the most popular and dominant in the series. For the first event at Nashville, T. J. Herndon won the Street Stock feature in his #1 stocker powered by the Quicksilver 383 crate.

There are currently 14 drivers using Quicksilver crate engines in the series with all but one using the 383 CT. Only Eli English’s #06 car is powered with the 357 CT Quicksilver crate.
