For decades, racers in NASCAR’s top divisions have been competing for grandeur and big wins at Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway. Equally sought after are the immaculate grandfather clocks that the winners receive. Now dirt racers will get their own chance to add this unique prize to their own trophy room.
NRV Furniture and Mattress Center in Radford, Virginia will be awarding a Grandfather Clock to the 2018 FASTRAK Triple-Crown Champion. The Howard Miller clock will be presented to the Champion on May 27 at Wythe Raceway. The $3,000-to-win finale will also feature a $100 Hard Charger Award sponsored by NVR Furniture and Mattress Center.
Howard Miller purchased Ridgeway, which is the company that manufactures the Grandfather Clocks for Martinsville Speedway. “We are excited to be teaming up with FASTRAK and Wythe Raceway to present this unique award,” said Randy Kinder, owner of NRV Furniture and Mattress Center, “FASTRAK is a great series to be associated with.”
The 14th annual FASTRAK Triple-Crown, which features almost $35,000 in total purse money, will kick off on May 25 at North Carolina’s 311 Motor Speedway with a $2,000 to win feature.
The following night – May 26 – finds the action shifting to West Virginia’s Princeton Speedway for another $2,000 to win event. The finale will be at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia on May 27 with a $3,000 top prize on the line.
The 2018 Champion will be crowned – along with a scepter and robe – on the front stretch at the high-banked, half-mile oval. The Champion will also be presented with the Grandfather Clock.
NRV Furniture and Mattress Center has agreed to a three-year deal, which will keep the unique award a part of the FASTRAK Triple-Crown. As the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance gears up for the 14th Annual FASTRAK Triple-Crown, Matthew Nance is the current points leader.
“The Triple-Crown has become very prestigious for the Chevrolet Performance Late Models,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “With this Grandfather Clock up for grabs, it will reach new levels.”
