The crew at Bully Dog recognize that dirt track racers use a variety of trucks for tow vehicles to get their race car to and from the track. Many of those are Chevy Silverado trucks from 2016 and earlier. As the Bully Dog team has reminded us previously, they understand that Silverado owners have chosen these trucks “because they wanted a truck that worked as hard as them. With gorgeous styling, an array of utility options, and a 5.3L V8 producing 355 HP and 383 FT-LBS of torque, Silverado is a great start to getting the job done.”
While the 5.3 liter Chevrolet engine is powerful as it comes from the factory, it is dwarfed by the 6.6 liter Duramax. The Bully Dog team says this is where their support comes in. According to the Bully Dog team, “Our calibrators have engineered the tunes to optimize the 5.3L V8 for increased horsepower and torque, so each Silverado comes ready to haul any load or cross any terrain.”
“With our 93 octane performance tune, we’ve achieved peak power and torque gains of up to 21hp and 24 lbs/ft, with max power and torque gains of up to 26hp and 30 lbs/ft. Along with the power and torque increases, our calibration greatly improves throttle response and firms up transmission shifts on the 6-speed for enhanced drivability.”
