36th Season Rapidly Approaching for NCRA Late Model Division

Soon it will be time for the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) Late Model competitors to ready their steeds for battle. The tour’s 36th season opens in late April and includes 15 events at five different facilities.

Known as the “gladiators,” the NCRA Late Models kick off the 2019 campaign on Friday, April 20 at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas). The stop marks the first of five appearances by the tour at the storied, clay oval. Additional events at the facility this season include visits on May 4, June 7, July 3 and September 1.

The sprawling confines of the Kansas State Fairgrounds welcomes the tour to town on Saturday, April 27. A busy night of racing also includes the NCRA Sprint Cars and NCRA Modifieds. A second visit to the ½-mile oval by the traveling gladiators comes on July 26-27, when they take part in the 63rd annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals.

Thunder Hill Raceway (Mayetta, Kansas) hosts four events on the 2019 series slate. The first appearance is May 25, while additional events are scheduled on June 22, July 20 and October 5.

The tour makes its debut at Texas’ Monarch Motor Speedway with a doubleheader on June 14-15. The weekend is co-sanctioned with the Sooner Late Model Series.

July 4 is a date that fans and racers will want to mark on their calendars. That night the tour makes their only appearance of the year at the legendary Belleville High Banks (Belleville, Kansas).

Delbert Smith and Dusty Leonard topped a thrilling point’s battle with the series in 2018. With a win in the season finale, Smith tied Leonard for the championship in the final standings. As a result, both were recognized as 2018 NCRA Late Model Champions.
