Shanon Buckingham won his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race on Friday night. The race saw a number of leaders with Buckingham being the one to finish first at the end of the 50 laps.
Josh Richards took the early lead over Jimmy Owens. It looked as though the night was over for both front runners on lap 8 when Steve Smith spun and made contact with both Richards and Owens. Richards continued and Owens went to the pits. Richards would lead until lap 27 until Tyler Erb used lapped traffic to take the lead. With Dale McDowell moving into second, the veteran driver pressured Erb for the lead. Erb cut a tire on lap 44.

The lead went to McDowell, but he also pitted with a flat tire under the lap 44 caution. That handed the lead to Buckingham who checked out from Jared Hawkins to win his first career Lucas series race. Hawkins was second and Earl Pearson Jr. finished in third.
