Winning the announced “last” Hoosier 100 means your name will be in the record books forever. There was little doubt that every racer showing up a the Indiana State Fairgrounds had that win on their minds. When it came down to the final laps, it was no surprise that Kevin Thomas Jr. and Tyler Courtney would duel to the finish.

Courtney, and Indianapolis native, is fully aware of the race’s history since its debut in 1953. Using patience and a helpful tip from his crew chief, Courtney waited to the closing laps after following Thomas Jr. for 92 laps, then held the throttle a bit longer going into turn one on the late race restart. The move worked and Courtney placed his name in the record books as winning the last Hoosier 100 at the Fairgrounds.
