Series points leader Shannon Babb fended off  a stiff challenge from Brian Shirley on a late restart to capture his tour-leading fifth victory of the season and 97th of his career with a $5,000 payday at the high-banked 3/8-mile oval, Spoon River Speedway.

Pass for lead #18 Shannon Babb over #3 Brian Shirley.

#3 Brian Shirley and #18 Shannon Babb battle late in the race.

So far in this year’s DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Babb has notched victories at Kankakee County Speedway, Sycamore Speedway, The Dirt Oval at Route 66, Tri-State Speedway on Sunday, and now Spoon River Speedway last night.

Challenge Week begins tonight at the Charleston Speedway in Charleston, Illinois, then a welcomed scheduled night off on Wednesday as the crews travel to LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois, for the Thursday night event. The tour will wrap up Challenge Week with a Friday night show at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana, and Saturday night at the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri.
