A driver will never forget the site of their first victory and for Casey Riggs that would be Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana where he picked up his first career sprint car feature victory earlier this season. He was chasing another victory at Tri-State Speedway over the weekend as he hit the dirt for the $5,000 to win Hoosier Sprint Nationals with the Midwest Sprint Car Series. Riggs was looking tough in his heat race as he was leading in the early laps over great non-wing sprint car veterans like Jon Stanbrough and Critter Malone. Then as Riggs pitched the car into turn one his rear axle broke which caused the right rear wheel to fall off and sent his machine into a violent series of rolls. The car was junk but he emerged unhurt and the team was able to get the backup car together in time to take a provisional for the feature. Riggs would earn the hard charger award as he would battle his way to a ninth place finish from his 21st place starting position.
