At 15-years-old, Tyler Clem battled ups-and-downs throughout the three-day stand over the weekend with the Arctic Cat All Star Sprint Cars at Bubba Raceway Park. “Those guys are so tough, and you can’t give them a head start at all,” Clem noted. “I think we had a chance to get a win on Friday night, but luck wasn’t on our side with that lapped car. Despite the bad luck it was still a really good weekend for us, and we were able to show a lot of speed.”
Tyler Clem kicked off the 2018 season on Friday night at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) competing with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. In a field of 35 cars, Clem qualified second fastest in his qualifying group before placing eighth in his heat race. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature, Tyler scored a fourth-place finish, positioning him 24th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Moving up seven spots in the 30-lap affair, Tyler Clem reeled in a 17th-place outing.
On Friday after starting the night off with a heat race victory, Clem streaked to a 4-lap Dash win earning him the pole position for the main event. Bad luck struck for Clem, while battling for the lead in the early stages of the event. He and front runner Sheldon Haudenschild were collected by a slowing lapped car on lap 9. After restarting on the tail of the field Tyler rebounded to finish 15th.
Wrapping up the Bubba Army Winter Nationals on Saturday, Clem secured his spot into the Dash with a heat race victory. Finishing second behind Sheldon Haudenschild, Tyler earned the third-starting position for the A-Main. Hanging on to a Top-10 finish, Tyler Clem posted a seventh-place effort in the 30-lapper.
