Donnie Ray Crawford was an outstanding young dirt track racer who tragically lost his life just hours before the 2012 Chili Bowl Finale. For the 2012 racing season the famous Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma has teamed up with Race4Life to put on the first annual Donnie Ray Crawford memorial race. The race will take place August 30th-September 1st when many competitors from across the nation will gather to honor and support Donnie Ray Crawford’s memory.
The Race4Life will give racers a great opportunity to race in one of six Micro-Sprint classes while raising money for Donnie Ray’s foundation. The event organizers wish for this event to be a place where racers can come together and celebrate Donnie Ray’s faith and his incredible appetite and skill he found in racing. He honed his dirt racing skills on the high banks of Port City Raceway for many years and it is only fitting that this race be held there. Whether you are a fan or racer this is your reason to travel to Port City to support this worthy cause and see some great racing as well.
Donnie Ray was a incredible young man with a passion for racing. But he also found a renewed focus on his future outside of racing, and was eager to study Petroleum Engineering. His family is creating a scholarship fund for drivers who, like their son, want to go to college after racing runs its course.
“This scholarship fund is for those racing people out there who have tried to make it big and they realize it’s time to move on, and need to get in school” said Jodie & Donnie Crawford. Any company or individual who would like to support this great cause is encouraged to contact race organizers at www.therace4life.com or micros.portcityracin.com. People who wish to make a direct donation to the scholarship fund can mail their checks to the following address:
