Casey Riggs is in the middle of the best season of his young sprint car career that got even better Saturday night. In June he earned the first sprint car feature ever at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana where he would return Saturday night to do battle with the best non-wing sprint car drivers in the country in the $10,000 to-win “Haubstadt Hustler 50″ which was co-sanctioned by the MSCS and USAC. At the end of the night Riggs put on a clinic as he rolled from his sixth place starting spot to take what would be the biggest feature win of his career. Fans at Tri-State Speedway saw 36 sprint cars show up to do battle at the 1/4-mile bullring where they would be treated to a 25 car feature. Bryan Clauson would jump to an early lead at the drop of the green flag in the feature. As Clauson lead he would hit lap traffic and soon feel some pressure for the lead from second place Daron Clayton and third place Casey Riggs.
The three drivers would do battle in thick lapped traffic as Riggs would sneak around both Clayton and Clauson to take the lead. The first 30 laps of the feature would be run without a caution flag which allowed for some great racing action. Clauson would fade and Blake Fitzpatrick would soon challenge Clayton for the runner-up spot. Fitzpatrick would eventually get around Clayton but soon developed engine problems which forced him to retire from the race. A few laps later Clayton would retire as well with mechanical issues. When it was all said and done nobody ever really challenged Riggs once he took the lead even on restarts. Riggs would cruise to the win and then treat the fans to some great donuts and a huge victory lane celebration in his #37 Indiana Underground Construction Racing sprint car. After both Fitzpatrick and Clayton had problems Clauson would come home second followed by Damion Gardner who drove from 15th, Levi Jones, and Brady Bacon who earned the hard-charger award for his run from 19th to 5th. Levi Jones maintained a 16 point lead over Chris Windom in the USAC National Sprint Car standings.
