2018 Indiana Midget Week: KKM + Kyle Larson = Big Win At Montpelier

Putting Kyle Larson in a Keith Kunz Motorsports’ Midget is as close to a perfect thing as you are going to get in dirt track racing. Larson proved this by setting fast time in qualifications, dominating his heat race, then winning the 30-lap feature race against some of the best dirt track drivers in the country. Oh… and by-the-way, he set a new one-lap track record in qualifying and 10-lap track record during the heat race for Montpelier Motor Speedway.

While Larson may have experienced a nearly flawless evening, there were 36 other drivers that didn’t show up just to run circles so that Larson could win. Tyler Courtney’s feature run did not go unnoticed by most observers. Starting in the 14th position in the feature race, Courtney worked his way through the field, slicing his way to second position by the end of the race and earning the hard charger award. Larson started 6th and won the race, which made many fans wonder what would have happened if Courtney had started in the top seven spots. If this race is any indication, Indiana Midget Week is going to be a barn burner.
