There were a lot of people that helped me get the car to the track last time and I owe a lot to them for their help: My wife and sons. We all know how much our family gives up for us to race. Aaron van Heel at Intercomp. Intercomp provided the scales and expertise in getting the car balanced. It drives well and with a new motor under the hood this thing will be pretty fast around the track. Scott Reynolds and Luke Whalen at Scorpion Racing Products. They set me straight about valve train and what it takes in a restricted motor to be competitive. Scorpion only makes racing parts and they are the same ones from the F1 series all the way down to us Saturday night racers. There is no "sportsman line" in Scorpion. Every part is built to be the top of the line type part, even for stock applications. These guys know valve trains. I tried real hard to cook them but couldn't. Paul Grabowski at Mallory Ignition. That CT Pro ignition system is out of this world. If your looking for an ignition system that will take the abuse and not let you down, Mallory's CT Pro is the one. Serious technology here. The cutting edge electronics involved in the development of the CT Pro line is incredible, and the explanation of the parts was so intense that it hurt my brain trying to understand it. I don't need to know how it works, I just needed to know that it does work. I can promise you......It does work, and it works very well! Chris Douglas and Ashley Newman at COMP Cams. They have been a continuous source of information for all of our project cars. Both of these men are Champion racers in Outlaw Modifieds so they know these cars real well. It doesn't hurt that they know camshafts better than anyone else on the planet. Peter De Paola at ADP Racer's Rivets. Peter knows that 80% of what happens on the track is directly related to what you did in the shop. ADP racer's rivets are the fastener that will do the job when others won't. I heard about them, gave these rivets a look, and liked them so much that they are the official fastener of the OneDirt project cars. Accel's extreme plug wires. Can't say enough good about these wires. My engine temp was over 260 degrees and the plug wires were sitting millimeters away from the headers.........not a mark or discoloration on them. They are rated to 2,000 degrees F. Absolutely awesome part and I am glad they are on my car. Mike Sayle who came down when I had the car up on the four post lift and gave me some direction in the rear end set up. The car drives like a dream. I don't think I have had a more comfortable ride in a dirt track car, and that wouldn't have been possible without Mike's help. Finally, James, Melissa, and all the crew at PowerTV. Without their encouragement and support I would have given up trying to make it to the track. Whenever things seemed to be too tough, one of these guys would provide the spark to keep me going. Thanks guys. What more can I say? You guys are my heroes! You can count on the K9 car for the next event. Mike and Dena have a really great thing going with the Victorville Auto Raceway, and my second family is there in the pits every weekend. I wouldn't miss it for the world. | Easy guys (and Nerd), this is a family show. I can't resist adding my own comment though; I've seen FWMOD01's wife, and it would be worth the protest money for an inspection. But I can't see anyone actually protesting anything about her. (She's a great lady and I'm sure that next time at the track she'll be looking to kick my butt for that comment. Would it help if I apologize now?) |
