| A big thanks the Southern AllStars race director for passing along the following preview of the 9th Annual Georgia Outlaw Championships this weekend at Screven Motor Speedway. SAS has two tight point races raging with just 2 events left on the schedule. Randy Weaver Southern All Stars Head for Screven’s Georgia Outlaw State Championship – Fayetteville Event Cancelled Woodruff, SC -The ever tightening Southern All Star Racing Series championship battle turns next to Screven Motor Speedway’s 9th Annual Georgia Outlaw State Championship on Friday night, November 13th. The 40 lap event will pay $4000 to the winner and will play an important role in the season-long points chase. Ronny Lee Hollingsworth or Northport, Alabama currently holds a slight thirty-four point advantage over Crossville, Tennessee race Randy Weaver. With the cancellation of the event scheduled for the next day at Fayetteville Motor Speedway, the Screven event will be the last race before the November 21st Cleveland, Tennessee finale. Casey Roberts “Screven is always a fun atmosphere and the track always seems to provide some very good racing. James Griffin really cares about every racer and fan that comes through his gates and it shows when he has a special event. With Fayetteville canceling so late in the game, that leaves Screven as our next to last event. That will cause these guys battling it out for this points deal to really put an extra emphasis on running well. This is one of the closest points battles I have ever been involved in. Ronny and Randy both have had great seasons and either one will make a fine representative as our champion. We wish both of them the best of luck and I hope they fight right down to that last lap at Cleveland.” said Southern All Stars General Manager Kelley Carlton. Jonathan Davenport “Red has a great program going on both days. We will be running our event on Friday night but he also has a big program on Saturday as well. We plan on sticking around and checking it out. He is paying $5000 to win for front wheel drive cars so that should make for some really interesting and wild racing. SMS is on the same campus as the Savannah River Dragway and Red is also hosting a special event there is well. It is a very cool deal for the fans. They can pay one price at the gate and roam back and forth between the circle track and the dragway. Screven is definitely an experience. I believe there will also be a live band and Red always has plenty of freshly prepared food. Food you might not expect at a racetrack. Things like pork chop sandwiches, meatloaf and baked chicken dinners. We want to encourage everyone to come down and make a weekend of it.” Benji Cole In addition to Hollingsworth and Weaver’s battle the Cleveland Speedway Driving School Rookie of the Year award is also still undecided. Eastridge, Tennessee’s Todd Morrow holds a small advantage over Tiger, Georgia young gun Ethan Hunter and the two will continue to hash it out at Screven on Friday. Several other drivers have made the intentions of competing known as well. Four time Southern All Star champion and current World of Outlaws regular Clint Smith is expected as well as NASCAR star and racing icon Ken Schrader. Other drivers including Dennis Erb, Casey Roberts, Jonathan Davenport and 2008 Southern All Star Rookie of the Year Jason Fitzgerald are also expected to be on hand.
