Default Late Models Return to Perris Auto Speedway In 2010!

Perris Auto Speedway promotor, Don Kazarian, has welcomed many different divisions at his famed dirt oval. Now, the speedway will welcome the return of the PASSCAR Dirt Late Models after a one-year absence.

Although it is late into the off season, Kazarian has decided to add two last-minute Late Model shows to the 2010 schedule. The local series first debuted at the track in 2007 after the demise of the California Champ Truck series in 2006. The Late Models were a common event at the fairgrounds throughout the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but Kazarian had no choice but to drop the class indefinately due to the struggling economy and lack of financial support. With things looking more promising for 2010, Don Kazarian has catered to the high demand for the return of the high speed series.

Two-time PAS Late Model Champion, Art Peterson.

(JANUARY 28, 2010, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian announced that after a one-year absence, the fastest stock cars to ever turn a wheel at Perris Auto Speedway, the Extreme Late Models, would return two times during the 2010 season.

Led by three-time PAS Late Model champion Art Peterson of Cathedral City, the Late Models will make their first appearance on March 27th. They will join Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the West Coast Street Stock Series (PASSCAR Super Stocks) in a high-speed triple-header show for their first appearance. They will be back on July 24th when they again join the cars and stars of the West Coast Street Stock Series, PASSCAR Street Stocks, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the California Lightning Sprint Cars.

“I had a meeting with veteran racer Jim Giardina about a month ago,” Kazarian said. “He and several of the other local drivers wanted us to bring Late Models back. Unfortunately the meeting happened so late, we can only get them in two times this year. Our schedule was already filled and we did not want step on any of the WCS dates. In fact, when I first put them on the schedule, I had May 1st as their first race, but then noticed Tulare had that date so I switched it to March 27th.”

The two races will be open competition shows and there will be no organization for drivers to join.

When asked if this means more Late Model shows in 2011 Kazarian said, “I hope so, but lets see how it works out first. If it is beneficial to the racers, fans and the track, we would love to have them back for more shows in 2011.”

Perris Auto Speedway will open its 15th season on February 13th and 14th with rounds #1 and #2 of the PASSORS Off Road Series. The PAS will open its USAC season two weeks later on February 27th when the USAC National & CRA Sprint Cars and the USAC National & Western Midgets contest the Sokola Shootout. The PASSCAR season opener, on March 6th, will feature the West Coast Street Stocks (PASSCAR Super Stocks), PASSCAR Street Stocks, Modifieds, Sport Mods, California Lightning Sprint Cars, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks, CDCRA Dwarf Cars and the NMRA Three-Quarter Midgets.
