| We had the opportunity to talk with Shawn Parker, President of the Dirt Track Racing School in Charlotte, North Carolina about the curriculum development and future schedule at the dirt track racing school. Shawn tells us that in the past months "we've made several additions to the school, all aimed to train dirt track drivers to get the most out of their racing careers." Shawn Parker and Erin Crocker Evernham assessing the student's on track driving. Shawn opened the Dirt Track Racing School in late 2007 and held the first class on March 22, 2008 at Carolina speedway in Gastonia, NC. From the beginning, Shawn strived to push the boundaries on educating all levels of dirt track racers. From novice dirt track drivers to racers of all experience levels, the Dirt Track Driving School has continuously added programs to meet the needs of their students. As a direct result of the wide ranging experiences to be gained from the classes, Humpy Wheeler's developmental driver program includes training at the Dirt Track Racing School. NASCAR driver David Ragan has even taking some laps around the track in the school's dirt late model training car. The staff at the Dirt Track Driving School has grown to include driving instructors with impressive backgrounds in dirt track racing. Tim "The Toolman" Allen, two-time defending Carolina Speedway Late Model Champion and winner of several Carolina Clash events in 2009, has added tremendous talent to the Dirt Late Model program at the School. Looking to improve the open wheel program at the school, Shawn Parker and Erin Crocker Evernham held a preliminary class in January which met with great success. Based on the overwhelming response, Parker and Crocker-Evernham agreed to schedule a second class in April of this year. Erin's first class with the Dirt Track Driving School. Erin Crocker Evernham is the only woman to ever win a World of Outlaw Series race and has spent years racing on dirt tracks all over the world. She has also competed successfully in the ARCA series and the NASCAR’s truck series and Nationwide series. Erin's experiences along with Parker's experience in driver training were combined to develop a one of kind course which includes classroom training on the first day that provides valuable information regarding public relations, safety, fitness and marketing. The second day of the course takes place at the racetrack. Each student turns laps in two different types of open wheel dirt cars, including a full-size sprint car. Erin and Shawn are both heavily involved in all activities and constantly providing feedback to the student drivers. Learning the track with Erin Crocker Evernham. She has also competed successfully in the ARCA series and the NASCAR's truck and Nationwide series. * Erin providing feedback. “Erin & I were happy with our first class together last month, and we’re excited to follow it up with our second class in April,” says Parker. “We couldn’t have asked for a better group of students. They were all great to work with, and the feedback we got was terrific.” Ray Evernham taking a turn on the simulator. Although Crocker plans to do plenty of Sprint Car racing in 2010, the development of the Erin Crocker Racing School remains a top priority. “In my opinion, racing a partial sprint car schedule this season myself, is only going to enhance the value of the school. Everything I do at the races will be fresh on my mind making it easier for me to educate the students.” * For pricing, availability and more information on the program, please call the Dirt Track Racing School at 704-728-2969.
