Default For all you parents who coddle their children their whole lives.....

Ive been talking to a friend of mine that recently got done being a drill sgt for two yrs in the us army. I have no idea what happened to this army of ours, but it is getting way too soft!!!! If i knew how to fix it i would, but i truly think this one is out of my hands but so the regular folk (aka civilians) know how soft our army is getting, and i can only account for the army, not marines, airforce, navy or coast guard. These are all things i wouldnt of wanted, nor like to hear about in the army,
1. Before soldiers go to bed they must have milk and granola bars
2. The first two weeks of basic training they get to have their cell phones.
3. If a drill sgt forgets to hand out milk and granola bars and the 1st sgt hears about it, that drill sgt gets their ass handed to them on a silver platter.
4. Drill sgts can not cuss at soldiers anymore

with this kind of treatment we might as well skip basic training, send them to their job training and then over seas. New recruits need to be torn down and rebuilt.

I had another buddy who is a warrant officer told a soldier in iraq to turn down his music because it was offensive, the soldier complained to someone else and my friend got reprimanded. Pls parents stop coddling your children, our military is suffering, i fear we no longer have the toughest army in the world. And im sure there is more that happens in basic training that doesnt help these young men and women be the best that they can be.

oh and what happened to the firing squad for soldiers who refused to fight? for soldiers who refused to do what their commander and chief felt needed to be done? for the soldiers who have refused to go to war whether they agreed to it or not, they should have known from day one they had no choice, they signed a contract and took and oath. soldiers live in the land of the free but soldiers are not free, they make life for the rest of us free. i thank the ones that fight with out question, the others can bite the big one!!!!!

For this to get any better, You must first have a Commander in Chief.
A REAL ONE.

Nuff said. I could go on and on.

According to an email I recieved, I think I may get my ass kicked by making a comment about the military, being that I never served........but Imma do it anyway.

I think your "softness" stems from one event. The day women were allowed in the military. Yes the Woman.

There is a basic set of drills (excercises, what have you) that a soldier must pass in order to graduate from Boot Camp. Am I correct so far?

Now when the Woman was allowed to join the military they were given a lower standard to uphold in order to pass. That, in my opinion, is the start of degrading a proven system.

Am I dogging on the current military women soldiers, NO. Hell I couldn't even pass their test. I'm just stating facts as I have been told.
Lowering standards for anyone is admitting that they couldn't pass the Standard Tests, Thereby creating a "softer" military.

What'cha think about that?

The physical part is true, but here's a counterpoint; The women have to score higher on their ASVAB tests than the men do.

So, the question is: Do we make it equal for all by "dumbing down" the women or making them stronger?

I was resistant to women in the tactical fighting units in the Marine Corps until I actually served with them. Whenever I was in a unit that had women, I noticed that they made us better.

Take it for what it's worth. I don't think you need to have one universal fitness test for both genders. The women Marines that I worked with all pulled their weight. Everyone of them.

ill say there is some truth to that, but i need to ask bobby since he was a marine and i was not, are the standards for women in the marines set lower then males? if this is a yes, then ill say kev hit it on the spot. now, i know a handful of female soldiers and yes there is a difference, i dare any one to call bobby a soldier, hes a marine and marines have the right to be picky of what you call them they are not soldiers, so these female soldiers i know for damn sure can kick my butt on the physical fitness test. so with that said i know females can meet the minimum requirement for the males, all they have to do is meet the requirement, the ones can kick my butt on P.T. test blow the standard for male and female out of the water.

to add to that, my twin bro that is a tanker i think had a good point when i talked to him about how soft the army is getting, he said he thinks its because of video games. kids play video games and think its easy so they join the military and find out its hard, so they whine. the standard gets dropped and all of the soldiers that had to work their butt off to get where they are at, its a slap in the face, oh and to get promoted from E4 to E5 (specialist to sergeant) its a joke, its so easy. btw E1 to E4 to get ranks it only took time, 6 months from enlistment you get E2 so on til E4 E5 you have to get promotion points, and all kinds of stuff, but the promotion course out in the field is a joke.

well then boot camp made them realize thats how it has to be. basic for me was easy but wasnt as easy and lame as it is now. in the unit i served in not all of the women were pulling their weight, but with that said it just wasnt the women that were lazy, some of the males were too, so i guess it goes around.

I wouldn't be that embarrassed about never serving in the military. There are a couple of guys that never served and they did more damage to the American Fighting Man than thousands of us ever could. Who would those two men be? Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama.

Off the record, they are traitors in my book.

For the record, They were (are) simply dumbasses that had no idea of military service, loyalty, integrity, courage or honor.
