2012 Chili-Bowl Nationals Coverage: Saturday’s Featured Events

Today marks the final day of the 26th annual Chili-Bowl. All 267 entries will have the opportunity to take to the track today and work their way up through the consolation races – they call it “alphabet soup”.

The features today start with two K-features. The top four drivers from the K will move on to the J, and as long as you keep winning or finishing top 4 you will keep advancing up the alphabet… But each main gets tougher and tougher.

When we arrived today we were shocked and saddened to learn that Donnie Ray Crawford was killed early this morning from a gunshot wound. The mood here at the Chili-Bowl is drastically different then it has been all week. Donnie Ray’s car is out in front of his trailer, and a mural is laid out on a table for passerby’s and loved ones to sign.

We were very sad to arrive today and learn that Donnie Ray Crawford was killed from a gunshot wound early this morning.
