Photo Gallery – Friday Night at The Knoxville Nationals

Friday night marked the last chance for 4 drivers to make the main event at the 52nd annual Knoxville Nationals without having to use a consolation race on Saturday. The top 16 points in points from Wednesday and Thursday have already been locked into the main event and the first 4 rows of the B-main have also been decided.

For the rest of the field their finish last night at the famed speedway would dictate where they started on Saturday.

Cody Darrah's night started out poorly as he had a motor let go within the first two laps of hot laps.

By the end of hot laps drivers were already breaking into the low 15 second bracket.

After setting fast time in time trials, david gavel would battle Justin Henderson and win the first heat race

Chad Kemenah would come up a position short from transfering into the A-main through his heat race on friday.

Jac Haudenschild and Steve Kinser would both compete on Friday to try to claim the coveted four spots up for grabs on Friday

Kinser would make an impressive charge to the front in his B-feature, but would come home short finishing in the ninth position in the A-feature. Haudenschild came home 18th after struggling in the A.

After smoking for most of the day Danny Lasoski would come home 15th spot.

A scary moment happened during one of the B-features when Mike Reinke, Austin Johnson, and Lee Sowell all flipped in turns 3 and 4. No drivers were harmed.

David Gravel and Cody Darrah would lead the field to the green during friday's a-feature but it would be a driver starting deeper in the field that would steal the show.

Justin Henderson would come from the 6th position to make a serious charge for the lead around the halfway mark.

Henderson and Gravel once again put on a show for the fans as they battled for the lead in the closing laps. But there would be no stopping Henderson this time as he claimed the victory.

Cody Darrah rebounded after blowing the motor to take home the final transfer spot into Saturday's main event.
